Like any other news outlet, SN has basic expenses. We strive to minimize costs because a) we have no sugar daddies and b) we hate to beg. Ads will be needed eventually. But we also hate obnoxious ads, especially those engineered for maximum distraction and annoyance – gifs, pop-ups, flashing, changing colors, etc.

Current management will never resort to these measures. We are declaring our own advertising HOA – we review color palettes, specify sizes and generally aim to maintain a sedate ad experience that is informative without being overly intrusive.
